LeRoy Carhart, one of the four main subjects in the True/False Film Fest film After Tiller, is under medical investigation. One of his patients, Jennifer Morbelli, died on Feb. 7, after Carhart performed an abortion performed when she was 33 weeks along.
The Maryland Board of Physicians is conducting the investigation, which began after a formal complaint by Cheryl Sullenger, the senior policy adviser of Operation Rescue. Operation Rescue is a Christian anti-abortion group.
According to Sullenger, Carhart showed negligence by leaving the state and neglecting his patient. The investigation could take more than six months.
